Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performing routine and specialized test procedures in Histopathology including Immunohistochemistry; Validation of testing equipment and methodologies; organizing workflow to maintain performance standards of quantity and quality; observing, troubleshooting and reporting problems with methods, equipment etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
*Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Sciences (CSMLS);
*current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO);
*Recent working experience in a Histopathology Laboratory required;
*Recent Immunohistochemistry experience preferred;
*Current theoretical and technical knowledge in Histology and Immunohistochemistry;
*Must have in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments and their interrelationships;
*Must have working and technical knowledge of the electronic and/or mechanical equipment necessary to perform routine and specialized testing;
*Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
*Proven problem solving skills, with the ability to recognize problems, identify the cause, create alternatives and determine solutions;
*Able to exercise independent judgement, deductive reasoning with attention to detail;
*Able to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations;
*Proven organizational skills with the ability to assess requests and prioritize them to ensure good and prompt patient care;
*Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education sessions;
*Physically capable of performing bending, lifting, turning frequently throughout the
shift to accomplish tasks;
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.
