Metal and Wood Products Ltd.
is looking for a full time Solidworks Draftsperson to assist in preparing 3D models and shop drawings in a high paced, ever changing shop environment.
We are a high-end fabrication shop in Burnaby B.C that specializes in creating high end architectural metal details for interior and exterior of custom homes.
We are looking for a team player who is interested in growing with the business and becoming part of our fun team.
Duties:
- Preparing shop drawings and working with fabricators to complete projects.
- Validate designs and confirm dimensions are accurate based onsite measures.
- Ensure customer specifications are met and relevant components are accounted for electrical, automation hardware, mechanical systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Doing material take offs and prep material orders.
- Preparing files and layouts for water jet cutting in house.
- Effective communication regarding mechanical components, fabrication techniques, assembly, and installation techniques.
- Working knowledge of materials in terms of machinability, welding, strength, corrosive resistance, compatibility is an asset.
- Must be able to confidently work with design Team Manager and Production Manager in the shop to inspect projects while they are being built.
- Solve issues on the fly and integrate solutions for future projects.
- Working knowledge of structural systems, load capacity in design and bolt sizing an asset.
- Promotes and models an honest, ethical, and professional attitude in daily work.
- Engages in a friendly, positive, energetic service attitude.
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Must have a "Safety First" mentality.
- Mechanical aptitude through a combination of education or experience.
- Mechanical engineer/technician, drafting technician, welder, fabricator or millwright with drafting experience would be preferred.
- Be proficient in SolidWorks 3D Software.
- Computer software savvy/competence.
- Knowledge of time tracking software for tracking projects digitally an asset.
- Must be able to measure in metric and imperial systems.

Salary:
$25.00-$32.00 per hour
