Field HSE Officer


The Field HSE Officer reports directly to the HSE Supervisor and is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the ensuring our employees perform their duties in a safe manner and ensuring compliance with relevant internal and external safety standards and regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • HSE liaison for field stores within the southern region (Red Deer, Brooks, Swift Current, Estevan & Kindersley)
  • Site field visits as required to branch locations and remote work sites
  • Participation in daily/weekly/monthly Operations meeting
  • Development of HSE reports/goals
  • Monitor safety incidents for trends, provide feedback on opportunities for improvement, execute improvements as required
  • Maintain compliance to OH&S legislation
  • Review, development, and update of HSE policies as required by legislation and the nature of the business
  • Direct and participate in accident investigation procedures
  • Keep records of safetyrelated incidents and propose corrective actions, execute corrective actions as required, maintain records
  • Organize and conduct HSE training plans as required by the organization and legislation
  • Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
  • Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
  • Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies where required
  • Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters as deemed necessary by HSE and/or the organization
  • Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
  • Inspect equipment and tooling to observe possible unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct internal Health and Safety Management System audits and coordinate external audits to maintain COR certification.
  • Conduct hazard assessment and enforce preventative measures
  • Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or nonconformity (e.g., not using protective equipment)
  • Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
  • Participate in the company's Health and Safety Committee and lead meetings as per legislated requirements
Qualification Requirements

  • College diploma, University degree or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Health, Safety and Environment or equivalent industry experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to all levels of the organization.
  • 35 years of Oil and Gas (or similar) HSE experience
  • Two or more years of general office experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in a high demand, multiple priorities industry and completing work under tight deadlines.
  • Handson approach to HSE
  • Possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Spreadsheets
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interdepartmental and customer interaction.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and quality
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (interpersonal and written)
  • Valid H2S, Standard and First Aid Certifications
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to travel to and from branches and remote worksite locations (potentially up to 50% of the time)

  • Squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and twisting
  • Lifting up to 75 lbs
  • Pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs
  • Working with arms extended and/or above head
  • Work in noisy environments
  • Work near high pressure equipment and live wells

Job Type:


  • Permanent, full time (8hour shift with hours varying to accommodate travel)

Salary:
$65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
