Focus


The primary focus of the Human Resources and Office Manager is to provide support to the Director of Operations and Growing.

You play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth daily operations by proactively anticipating needs of both staff and management and by providing human resource and administrative services such as reporting and coordinating activities.

As the point of contact for employees at your facility, you are responsible for providing general Human Resources (HR) services such as answering employee questions (or escalating inquiries as appropriate to corporate HR and Payroll), onboarding new hires, and liaising with head office HR and Payroll to resolve employee record and timecard issues.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Embody the Whole Leaf vision and strategy, guiding daily operations, driving solutions, and ensuring cooperation across departments and amongst the Star group of companies
  • Assist the Director of Growing and Operations with continuous improvement projects, tracking of key performance indicators, and preparation of support operating and capital budgets
  • Act as liaison between head office IT and local leadership team.
  • Ongoing HR support throughout the employee lifecycle including submission of leave of absence and termination information, liaise between the local leadership team and corporate HR to capture employment changes, and respond to inquiries from staff and management regarding benefits and HR policies
  • Follow corporately defined internal procedures for general HR functions such as supporting recruitment efforts by assisting with the screening of resumes, scheduling interviews, coordinating onboarding activities including training requests, tracking and obtaining benefit enrollment forms, and maintaining employee records both electronically (files and Dayforce HR/Payroll system) and hard copy
  • Forward or escalate HR inquiries and issues as appropriate
  • Support supervisors and managers with resolution of timecard issues prior to submitting biweekly payroll, paying particular attention to overtime and holiday pay
  • Run regular and ad hoc reports for the local leadership team to support daily operations and decision making
  • Participate and support local supervisors and managers in the creation of OHS strategies, policies, and initiatives to promote a safe and healthy workplace, participate as a member of the local OHS team, and submit WCB reports when required
  • Other tasks as assigned/necessary.

Education and Experience:


  • Completed or in progress of pursuing a postsecondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or Accounting.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of relevant progressively responsible experience ( a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
  • Past experience with Dayforce or another HRIS systems would be considered an asset
