    THE CENTRE FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION has the following anticipated vacancy for the FALL 2024 Semester for – Mobile Applications Programming (MAP-08)_FULL TIME DAY INTENSIVE (9:00 - 12:00 & 12:30 - 2:30 pm). August 19 to January 20, 2025.

    COMPUTER SCIENCE MOBILE APPLICATIONS DEVELOPMENT AEC -

    • Bachelor's or equivalent * degree in Computer Science or a related field
    • Demonstrated ability in the development of mobile applications (Android and/or IOS) REQUIRED
    • Minimum of 3 years appropriate professional/industrial experience PREFERRED
    • Several years related teaching experience at the post-secondary level PREFERRED
    • Excellent English communication skills REQUIRED.

    Equivalent establishes a general comparison between two official education systems

    *In addition to above:

    SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FOLLOWING COURSE:

    * AB Internship

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Supervising staff and/or student interns in an IT work environment;
    • Ability to collaborate with all program stakeholders to achieve the goals of the internship;
    • Experience teaching in the program in a post-secondary environment PREFERRED.

    RESPONSIBILITIES RELATED TO INTERNSHIP:

    • Inform the Program Coordinator of any internship-related problems (CNESST, absences, psychological harassment, etc.);
    • Monitor, and evaluate students' acquisition of the internship course competencies and provide relevant feedback;
    • Ensure that tasks and duties assigned to interns are program-related and that the workload is appropriate:
    • Communicate with the internship host supervisor regarding student progress and industry trends;
    • Visit with the interns and their internship supervisor at the host company (on-site or virtual) for the purpose of evaluation;
    • Submit to Program Coordinator an internship report at the end of internship (synopsis of placements, issues encountered, points of interest including trends in industry, etc.);

    N.B.

    • Number of hours to be determined at a ratio of 5.5 hours per student registered in the course.
    • The candidate who is selected will be required to attend the following training session(s) prior to the beginning of classes:
    • CNESST Presentation:
    • Bill 59 - An Act to modernize the occupational health and safety regime;
    • Psychological Harassment;
    • Health and Safety Training Courses:
    • Safety Hub courses and quizzes.

    DISCLAIMER: Courses will be offered in an online or hybrid format until further notice.

    N.B. Contracts are contingent upon sufficient student enrollment in each course. Starting date, day/time and location for each course to be determined by the Centre for Continuing Education.

    Note: In accordance with art of the Collective Agreement, the Selection Committee may, exceptionally, recommend to the College that pertinent additional professional and/or industrial experience be considered in lieu of the stated minimum educational requirement. Candidates to be considered under this option must have completed at least the equivalent of a DEC or AEC. Education superior to the stated minimum requirement may be substituted for professional/industrial experience at the discretion of the selection committee.
