Earth Sciences and Engineering specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.


Looking to get the most out of your upcoming internship?
Hatch is seeking a Geotechnical Intern for an internship starting Fall 2024. Reporting to Hatch Earth Sciences and Engineering group you will support offices globally working from our Winnipeg office location.

In alignment with this organizational growth our Earth Sciences and Engineering (ESE) delivery practice is expanding globally and is currently comprised of over four hundred professionals focused on Hatch's business sectors (Energy, Infrastructure, and Mining) in earth related disciplines, including: Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Geospatial Sciences, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

  • Support various field assignments including geotechnical investigations, data processing, and report writing.
  • Assist in developing analysis (slope stability, seepage) and quantity estimates.

You bring to the role:


  • Pursing a degree in Geotechnical, Geological, Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extracurricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Technical proficiency in CAD, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Students will be assigned to work closely with experienced engineers who will provide guidance and mentoring.
