The work of the ESIS Team Leader involves supervising, coordinating, scheduling, assigning, training and monitoring the work of various levels of school and district staff, to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of office systems and data management practices at all district sites.
Work is performed under general direction with minimum supervision and considerable independence of judgment and action exercised within established policies and procedures.
Typical Responsibilities
The Team Leader:
Builds and coordinates the building of PowerBI and other district-level business intelligence solutions
Implements and supervises the implementation of established policies, procedures and guidelines as directed
A deep understanding of district and provincial policies and practices regarding student and other forms of data are required.
Directs staff by clarifying procedures for planning, development, and deployment of data/Business Intelligence projects
Liaises with district departments and senior management to develop and/or improve data integrity and accessibility.
Acts as a liaison between School, Ministry, and district departments and provides district-level interpretation of all Ministry and other data points as they pertain to varying projects
Plans and executes communications with schools and district departments
Creates ongoing training schedules and oversees the work of Senior Research Analysts and Systems Applications Specialists.
Coordinates work on multiple projects, prioritizing the development and maintenance of data visualizations and ad hoc data requests
Evaluates work and of assigned team members, ensures competency of assigned team.
Maintains a clearly defined quality control process for data projects
Brings significant expertise when in the role of technical liaison with other departments specifically in the area of data management processes and structures.
Has experience as the Subject Matter Expert when advising on technical designs (data schema, Active Directory, Azure, SQL)
Brings significant PowerBI, PowerApp and PowerAutomate development experience
Has a well-developed vision for addressing data needs of schools and districts
Is up to date with district and ministry data practices and trends
