Position Description
In partnership with the Kenora Detachment of the Treaty 3 Police, the Youth Mobile Crisis Worker shall provide crisis intervention support and outreach for youth (ages 12-24 years) in the City of Kenora.
Worker will work with the Treaty 3 Police to respond to mental health calls and assist youth in crisis.

Full time - 1 FTE
Location: 240 Veterans Drive, 3rd Floor, Kenora, Ontario
Reports to:
Crisis Response Manager
Summary of Duties
Provide immediate intervention (including mental health support and suicide risk assessment, emotional support, de-escalation and hospital accompaniment) for youth (aged 12-24 years) in crisis within the City of
Kenora
Work as part of a team with Treaty Police Service Officers, responding to calls for service via dispatch during shifts
Abide by police service protocols in order to provide effective intervention in the safest way possible (training provided)
Provide information and education to children and youth regarding mental illness and addiction
Be capable of assessing and responding to high risk youth using crisis intervention and crisis intervention theory;
Perform additional duties as required
Qualifications:
University degree, preferably in Social Work. College diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with experience in children services will also be considered
Ability to deal with crisis and post-crisis situations
At least 5 years of experience working with children and youth, preferably in a community outreach role
Knowledge of both the Family Services Act and the Mental Health Act will be considered assets
Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and computer skills
Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and language will be considered assets
Ability to work effectively as a team player and take direction well
Additional Requirements
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
Must be willing to travel when required
Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record check
