Acciona Facilities Services is recruiting for position of Manager-Custodial Services at our Victoria International Airport Location.

Position Summary:

This role will be responsible for coordinating and supporting all relevant activities of the janitorial services.

The position provides daily supervision and observation of staff to ensure proper protocols and procedures are being followed, performs quality audits on a regular on-going basis to ensure that the employer is meeting its contractual obligations.

Daily touch point with the client to update on cleaning and periodical progress.

Must lead and mentor staff, assign and direct work and have a strong ability to handle stressful situations and maintain a positive attitude.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provides leadership to assigned staff demonstrated through strong organizational skills, and proven ability to coach, train, motivate, schedule, instruct, direct, monitor staff and discipline staff.
  • Conducts daytoday custodial business in a professional manner, respecting opinions of staff, listening to concerns, responding accordingly, and treating staff with respect and courtesy.
  • Ensures compliance of AFS policies and procedures by meeting and communicating regularly with staff to ensure their awareness.
  • Assigns staff to established work areas or project duties and distributes appropriate project documentation, records, or task sheets. Moreover, conducts regular staff education and information meetings in assigned work areas.
  • Leads project work with the strong ability to forecast labour hours and chemical/equipment costs. Furthermore, will define, organize, plan, and implement to successful conclusion project work and cycle cleaning.
  • Responds to requests from the client to resolve operational problems in a timely manner and follows up on specific concerns as per the escalation protocol.
  • Allocates equipment to staff and monitors daily equipment use, cleaning and maintenance.
  • Focus on quality management to ensure both the standards in the contract with the client and APPA Standards are met and maintained.
  • Performs Quality Audits on a regular basis and follows up with staff on areas that require reauditing.
  • Participates in department safety programs and is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
  • Identifies supplies required for ordering from suppliers. Monitors proper use and care of supplies and materials.
  • Participates in the staff selection process by interviewing and hiring applicants.
  • Daily closing of the Airport cleaning report system
  • Ensures compliance with departmental budget for staffing, supplies and other items by completing a variety of reports such as the Daily Hours and Consumable Inventory Reports and other statistical data.
  • Follows required cleaning procedures for routine and precaution cleaning and hazardous spills. Completes task sheets and /or discusses any concerns and issues with Operations Manager.
  • Completes reports as requested by Operations Manager.
  • Trains and on boards staff as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Experience/Qualifications:


  • Minimum of completion of Grade 12. Prefer completion of postsecondary related training in housekeeping or janitorial service, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (e

g:
Building Service Worker Level 1, 2, 3).

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a supervisor
  • Experience in the procurement of janitorial supplies and equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in English.
  • Must possess a valid class 5 BC Driver's license and provide/maintain a clean driver's abstract
  • Must display a strong work ethic and initiative and strive for quality work for superior customer service.
  • Excellent administrative, leadership and organizational skills. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
