Description:
Research Associate position in the area of environmental microbiology, environmental engineering, contaminant fate and transport, molecular biology, anaerobic microbiology, biochemistry is available at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, University of Toronto.
Qualifications:
- Stateoftheart metaomics methods
- Anaerobic microbiology and cultivation of "difficult to grow" contaminant degrading strains
- Microbiological methods
- Experience with hydrogeology, and fate of contaminants in the environment is a plus
Duties:
Conceive hypothesis, design experimental plans and conduct experiments and analyze and interpret data
Review scientific literature, Execute research projects and report on their progress through oral and written reports and scientific journal articles
Communicate effectively orally and in writing
Present research at local, national and international meetings
Interface with industry partners and vendors effectively
Coordinate research projects and meetings as appropriate
Responsible for coordinating metagenomic, metaproteomic and metabolomic studies
Train new students on these research related experimental skills and maintain a lab manual.
Perform other additional duties to enable the safe and efficient operation of the lab for the research project
