The specialized rehabilitation provided at West Park empowers patients with the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead productive and independent lives in the community.
With our rapidly increasing ageing population requiring health care services, West Park is redeveloping its 27-acre Toronto campus along the Humber River to expand its programs, including a new, state-of-the-art hospital slated to open its doors in early 2024 and creating outdoor therapeutic spaces by mid-2025.
Salary hiring range:
$62,000 - $68,000
The Position
Reporting to the Director, Major Gifts & Campaign Director, the Major Gifts Officer is an essential member of the Major Gifts team throughout the fundraising cycle from prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
This position focuses on supporting the Major Gifts team and the development and execution of strategic and meaningful donor interactions, recognition plans and events that demonstrate donor impact at West Park - helping to build long-term relationships that increase revenue.
Key ResponsibilitiesMajor Gifts
- Provide support for the Major Gifts fundraising cycle, including but not limited to, donor engagement, materials to support major gift meetings; tracking actions from donor meetings and calls, and generating donor and prospect reports from RE/NXT; completing gift forms; drafting letters of agreement, assisting with taking meeting minutes as needed.
- Support the implementation of our The Hazel & Kingsley Fox Society for midlevel giving.
- Assist Major Gifts team with special projects and assignments, and the Campaign Cabinet.
- Work with Foundation colleagues to plan, lead and execute a series of GYLB unveiling events for donors with a named space(s) in the new hospital building and therapeutic grounds.
- Coordinate annual updates of donor listings for Donor Wall and Impact Report to Donors.
- Provide support for tracking all aspects of gift recognition and stewardship.
- Work with Hospital and Foundation teams and vendors to coordinate gift recognition. Coordinate recognition for gift recognition, annual impact reports, endowment/restricted fund reports, print and web publications to ensure that gift recognition is fulfilled.
- Plan and execute all aspects of West Park Foundation's annual donor stewardship events (virtual and/or in person) including the annual town hall donor appreciation event, Planned Giving education session, and "Insider's Look" events to provide new hospital updates.
- Coordinate and enhance donor experiences in events such as "Transforming Rehabilitation" tours of the new hospital building, West Park leadership/physician luncheon series, and finding synergies with West Park research activity.
- Provide support for annual signature fundraising events including the Golf Classic, Culinary Showdown and Tournament of Stars.
- Steward all donors with customized thank you notes and phone calls.
- Coordinate the communications channels for donor communications, including identifying opportunities, gathering information, drafting content, coordinating mailing lists and distribution. Ensure all activity is recorded and all donor information is kept up to date in RE/NXT database.
- All other duties as assigned.
- University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Additional courses and/or certification in fundraising is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of fundraising is highly desirable.
- General knowledge and appreciation of the Ontario healthcare system preferred.
- Two to four years of direct involvement in a fundraising role(s) with a proven track record of success.
- Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising and the gift cycle.
- Resultsoriented and enthusiastic individual with demonstrated donor relationship building skills and experiences.
- Advanced organizational and planning skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, tact and professionalism.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to anticipate unforeseen circumstances and formulate appropriate responses in alignment with Foundation priorities.
