Summary of Duties

Under the supervision of an Area Recreation Supervisor, the Program Coordinator helps with program logistics and mentors, coaches, and assists with the supervision of Play Your Way programs at various program sites throughout the City of London.


Work Performed

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service when communicating with participants, parents, general public, school personnel, community partners, staff, colleagues, and other individuals as required.
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate staff to ensure program is meeting high quality standards, program benefits, High Five benefits and compliance of staff policy and procedures.
  • Complete all required paperwork and reports as outlined by Supervisor.
  • Act as a liaison between front line staff and Supervisor to promote team work and clear lines of communication, and to ensure health and safety requirements are met and reported in a timely manner.
  • Visit Purchase of Service businesses to ensure compliance of agreement and report any issues to Supervisor.
  • Assist in hiring front line staff, and with the development and delivery of front line staff training programs.
  • Assist with program preparation prior to each program session starting.
  • Ensure all program staff complete documentation on a regular basis for attendance, accident reports etc.
  • Assist with distribution of parent evaluations and program literature as required.
  • Inventory, purchase, and restock program materials as required.
  • Use appropriate behaviour modification techniques when supervising participants.
  • Attend regular staff meetings as required by Supervisor.
  • Ability to be flexible and travel throughout the City as required by Supervisor.
  • Ensure all City of London policies and practices are adhered to.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience in a recreation environment with a minimum of two years experience in a supervisory role.
  • Program planning experience, organizational skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of behaviour modification techniques.
  • Second language an asset (please indicate on resume).
  • Experience working with children, youth, and/or adults with special needs an asset.

Other Requirements

  • Must be certified in HIGH FIVE
  • Healthy Child Development, QUEST (optional), and Standard First Aid prior to start of next program season.
  • Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) satisfactory to the City of London.
  • Access to a vehicle at all times during scheduled working hours and proof of a valid drivers license and car insurance.
  • Available Monday-Thursday evenings and/or Saturday daytime shifts.
  • Some daytime availability (Monday-Friday) during school year to assist with minor administrative tasks (optional).

Compensation and Other Information

Wages:
_**Starting at $16.50 per hour based on experience.

Hours vary, typically 10-15 hours per week during heavy program times, less when fewer programs are running.

Options for additional administration hours; Mileage reimbursement:
$0.59/km

Majority of programs operate September-June. Summer options will exist.
