What can I expect to do in this role?: Reporting to the Head, Maintenance East, you will:

  • Manage a team that are engaged in administering all aspects of the ministry's year-round, complex multi-year maintenance contract, and for planning, procuring and delivering any ancillary preservation maintenance contracts, and capital work within the maintenance contract.
  • Oversee contractor summer, winter and specialized maintenance activities such as traffic signal maintenance, bridge maintenance, roadside vegetation control, highway line painting, facilities construction and maintenance and data collection.
  • Investigate, direct and coordinate the ministry's response to program related emergencies and unplanned events (e.g. catastrophic accidents, major spills, severe inclement weather, etc.).
  • Represent the ministry to local/municipal emergency management response teams including Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) and emergency service providers.

How do I qualify?:


Mandatory:


  • This position requires timetotime travels. The applicant must have a valid class G driver's license or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario.

Leadership and Management Skills:


  • You have a passion for developing, building and leading organizational capacity through inclusive, positive, and values based leadership in areas of succession planning, talent management, organization and job design.
  • You have an understanding of strategic corporate directions, multiyear business and results based planning processes.
  • You have experience managing a technical team delivering results.
  • You have expertise in structuring, organizing and managing multiple projects, with a proven track record of successful project completion.
  • You have demonstrated skills in managing financial budgets and human resources, including labour relations issues.
  • You have demonstrated the
    leadership behaviors, attributes and mindsets to lead the OPS into the future.
