Job Summary


The Technical Accounting Group is responsible for establishing the accounting for complex or unusual transactions, which typically happen in areas of consolidation, business combinations, lease accounting, revenue recognition, hedging and financial instruments.

The group is also tasked with development, implementation and maintenance of global accounting policies and implementation of new accounting standards.

In its role, the group partners with other corporate groups (SEC reporting, consolidation, treasury, tax, corporate development, real estate, legal and FP&A).

The group has also an extensive interaction with the Company's audit firm and third party providers of due diligence, valuation and other services.


Responsibilities

  • Research and document accounting positions for complex transactions
  • Assist with evaluating the accounting consequences of potential transactions and provide input and suggestions to planned and proposed agreements and ventures
  • Follow emerging accounting issues and proactively analyze their impact on the Company's results and financial position
  • Provide guidance and training on technical accounting issues to various constituents within the Company
  • Assist with implementation of new accounting standards
  • Assist in the Company's SOX (Sarbanes Oxley) compliance efforts as they relate to technical accounting and accounting policies
  • Interact with the Company's auditors and other service providers
  • Provide direction on implementations of accounting policies and procedures to local Finance, IT and Operations staff

Qualifications

  • Strong technical accounting background, preferably with experience in the areas of consolidation (ASC 810), derivatives (ASC 815) and business combinations (ASC 805)
  • Ability to research FASB, SEC and other accounting issues and prepare high quality written documentation
  • Must possess good quantitative and analytical skills combined with solid business and financial acumen
  • A minimum of six years Big 4 accounting firm experience with major SEC clientele and minimum total experience of 8 years in accounting or finance positions of increasing responsibility
  • Preferably a previous role in a technical accounting advisory group
  • Transactional exposure and understanding the processes involved in
  • Resolving significant or complex accounting matters that may arise
  • Reading transaction documents with a focus on matters that may have accounting or disclosure consequences
  • Holder of an active CPA license or equivalent certification
  • Strong work ethic
  • Good communicator in both oral and written settings
  • Able to interact with all levels of management
  • A team player who possesses solid interpersonal skills and builds relations across organization
  • Selfdriven, independent thinker, ready to challenge the status quo
  • Flexible, "specialprojects" orientation coupled with solid multitasking abilities
  • Resultsoriented, decisive, with strong project management and organizational skills
