What can I expect to do in this role?: You will:

  • prepare various motions and court orders and send orders to court to be issued and entered
- prepare affidavits of sub-service by gathering and determining what information is to be used, completing documents in accordance with rules of practice
- prepare motions for warrants of committal
- follow up with courts to obtain status updates on various matters
- assist with preparing factums and trial records
- prepare statistical reports and correspondence for court clerks to advise of and clarify issues with specific cases
- ensure compliance with statutory limitation periods imposed by the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Family Law Rules


How do I qualify?:


Communication, Organizational and Time Management Skills:

  • You can provide advice to clients on issues related to the legal process and on case status
  • You can prepare a wide variety of legal documents
  • You have excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage a large caseload with strict deadlines

Legal Office Experience and Knowledge:

You have:

  • demonstrated legal office administration experience to provide legal clerical services for the branch by assessing and reviewing cases and determining legislative and legal process requirements
- demonstrated knowledge of legal office administrative procedures and practices to prepare legal documents and conduct legal research


Analytical, Problem-Solving and Judgement Skills:


  • You can identify legal problems and legislative implications and recommend courses of action to counsel
  • You can recommend case planning strategies, determine information sources and prepare complex summaries of legal information

Computer Skills:


  • You are proficient with Microsoft software programs, for e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Adobe
