Turning Point Youth Services, a multi-faceted and dynamic agency Accredited with Children's Mental Health Ontario, is committed to responding pro-actively and individually to the life challenges facing each of our clients.

We are actively seeking qualified and dedicated staff members for Part-Time / Relief Child & Youth Worker position in our live-in treatment programs.


Shift work is required. This includes awake overnights, days, evenings, and last-minute shifts during the week and on the weekend.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Provide direct, quality care and supervision to youth in a residential setting.
  • Develop and deliver activities and therapeutic programs.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the residents in the facility.
  • Liaise with families, professionals and the community.
  • Complete documentation and reports as required.
  • Participate in the daytoday operation of the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

University or College Degree/Diploma in Child & Youth Care or Bachelor of Social Work
:


  • Some relevant experience, preferably in residential child and youth work.
  • Appreciation of the importance of engaging youth and families from a strengthsbased, relationshipbased approach.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complex issues and challenges facing our clients.
  • Ability to exercise professionalism and sound judgement in conflictual and stressful situations.
  • Sensitivity to and ability to work with a diverse client and staff group.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, administrative and computer skills.
  • Valid "Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour" certification.
  • Valid "First Aid/CPR" certification.
  • Completion of required suicide prevention and intervention training.
  • Full vaccination against COVID19 by a vaccination series officially approved by Health Canada.

This is collective bargaining unit position within CUPE Local 3501.

Experience:

- working with youth, preferably in live-in treatment: 1 year (preferred)

  • UMAB (preferred)
  • First Aid Certification (preferred)
