Alberta Innovates is seeking a Manager, Finance to join our Finance team in Edmonton, Alberta.

The Manager of Finance will be responsible for reporting, analyzing monthly operational results, and coordinating any internal and external audit functions.

The successful incumbant will be responsible for (but are not limited too) the following:
Develops and implements financial plans and strategies that help the organization achieve its goals.

Leads, influences and collaborates with team resources in forecasting, long range planning, and decision-making to develop financial and business strategies and resolve issues.

Analyzes results against budgets and forecasts to identify variances, year-end costs, trends and determine historical costs utilized in future financial models/reports.

Develops, analyzes, and interprets accounting information with the view to appraise and report the operation's results including profitability, performance against budget, and matters relating to the company's fiscal/financial stability and operating efficiency.

Provides financial insights and recommendations for informed decision-making.

Prepares financial reports and statements for various levels of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Leads a team of Financial Analysts, establishing team goals, assigning work and manages performance review activities.


Qualifications and skills we are looking for:
University degree in Accounting or Finance
Designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is required
Eight or more years of related accounting experience
Three or more years of people leadership experience
Extensive knowledge of theories and concepts of financial management
Demonstrated understanding of business and strategic planning concepts
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Strong time management and organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Problem solving and decision-making skills
Demonstrated people management and coaching ability
Proficiency with MS Office software
Ability to work in a changing environment
