Manager, Corporate Accounting
Location:
G3 Head Office, Winnipeg (On-Site)
Working under the direction of the Controller, Corporate Financial Reporting, the Manager, Corporate Accounting prepares financial statements that meet standard accounting principles and ensures sound financial practices are followed and performs analysis and interpretation of trends requiring management's attention.
Protects company assets by establishing, monitoring, and following internal controls with the intent to maximize returns and limit company risk.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs the activities to meet corporate/financial objectives as they relate to:
- Management, development and implementation of financial control, accounting and reporting strategies in support of internal and external financial information needs of G3 such as annual reporting, budgets, general ledger, and special projects
- External regulatory compliance reporting
- Ensure that appropriate policy controls and procedures are in place and manage the risk of the business
- Prepare the financial statements of all entities of the corporation under IFRS accepted accounting standards
- Manage, monitor and review the month end accounting close process to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained
- Monitor and review for accuracy the general ledgers, balance sheet reconciliations and financial statements for all entities
- Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls
- Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Assists in the preparation budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans
- Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Tasked with ensuring accuracy on a company's balance sheet or on the statements of profit and loss, cash flows or retained earnings
- Supervises subordinate personnel in accounts receivable and accounts payable areas of the finance department
- Audits work flow to ensure all accounting transactions are processed accurately and in compliance with industry standards.
- Supervises the preparation of monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
- Handles special projects as requested by management
- Coordinates with auditors for the preparation of the quarterly reviews and yearly audit
- Performs other related duties as assigned
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- 5 + years' experience in the accounting field
- Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance and CPA designation
- Experience in the grain industry is considered an asset
