Position Summary


The Head Start Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Aboriginal Head Start on Reserve Program (AHSOR) Parents and Tots Programs.

To ensure the curriculum planning, organizing, and implementation the Head Start programs, while implementing the main 7 components:

Health, Nutrition, Parent and Family Involvement, Stó:lō Culture and Halq'émeylēm language, Social Support, Education and Special Needs into all aspects of the program.


The Head Start Supervisor will also need to provide at home programming for families in need with the home visitor programs as requested.


Role:

The Head Start Supervisor's role will be to align all actions to support the agency's mission by ensuring all policies and procedures demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior.

What you'll do

  • Guide and facilitate activities of the children, including daily activities, field trips, selecting and arranging equipment and materials in the classroom.
  • Provide information on the Head Start program to the community.
  • Assist children in development of social and selfhelp skills, and sound nutritional practices.
  • Attend staff training and meetings, and board and parent meetings as required.
  • Ensure program compliance with codes of all provincial and local licensing agencies and grant requirements.
  • Attend case management meetings and consultations as necessary.
  • Observe children and provide suggestions for behavior management and education programming to meet the individual needs of all children.
  • Arrange and facilitate regular meetings with staff and provide mandated training and updates to policies and procedures.
  • Establish and monitor regional systems and services that ensure program quality and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Participate in and assist with community events.
  • Provides Monthly reporting to Early Childhood Education Director.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Director, Executive Director, or Chief & Council

What you bring

Education

  • Early Childhood Education Certificate and current license to practice is required.
  • A Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education is an asset.

Experience/Skills

  • Experience training, directing and supervising staff.
  • Ability to handle stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner.
  • Have knowledge and experience in the philosophy and practices of Head Start.
  • Experience working with children in an Early Childhood setting.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a warm, caring, responsive relationship with children.
  • Ability to establish and maintain supportive and collaborative relationships with families and staff.
  • Ability to maintain a positive professional and nonjudgmental attitude.
  • Physically able to perform all assigned tasks.

Requirements:


  • Food Safe Level
  • Level 1 First Aid with CPR Certification
  • Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.
