    Working under the supervision of the operations manager, the job holder will be responsible for monitoring the manufacturing of various components to ensure they comply with client drawings, specifications, and applicable standards, following SGS procedures.

    The job holder will perform various tasks related to manufacturing monitoring, such as tracking work progress, witnessing tests, inspecting welding, conducting dimensional inspections, pre-shipment inspections, and witnessing loadings on a short, medium, or long-term basis.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Execute assignments from immediate supervisor and/or department coordinator;
    • Determine and analyze customer needs;
    • Plan and prepare interventions at the customer site (Documentation, equipment);
    • Ensure that all equipment necessary for performing tasks is functioning properly and complies with calibration validity period;
    • Consult with the customer and/or supplier to obtain required information for task completion;
    • Coordinate interventions with customer and/or supplier to meet manufacturer's deadlines;
    • Carry out interventions at the customer site as per mandate, punctually, professionally, and precisely, aiming to provide excellent service;
    • Review manufacturers' quality plans and those of their subcontractors;
    • Review purchase orders issued to suppliers;
    • Review technical specifications;
    • Review test reports;
    • Verify application of quality plans and applicable procedures;
    • Verify manufacturing compliance with plans and specifications;
    • Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of welding as per specified criteria in the design;
    • Check work progress;
    • When specified by immediate supervisor and/or coordinator, communicate with the customer;
    • Complete various quality forms related to work monitoring or inspection;
    • Ensure the supplier issues a non-conformance report and sends it to the customer upon observing non-compliance;
    • Inform the customer of any non-compliance following work execution;
    • Prepare non-compliance reports and submit them to manufacturers in case of non-conforming work;
    • Participate in factory meetings concerning manufacturing quality;
    • Witness tests during manufacturing and mock-ups;
    • Write clear and concise intervention reports within the prescribed timeframe (generally 24 hours after work completion);
    • Use client software, such as MCT – Hydro-Québec, when required;
    • Perform related tasks. Including data entry, filing, photocopying, issuing certificates, and special projects;

      • Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, metallurgical, or equivalent field. A college degree coupled with appropriate and significant experience may be considered equivalent;
      • Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in factory monitoring;
      • Hold a welding inspector certification, level II or III;
      • The following knowledge or qualifications will be considered a significant asset: Machining knowledge, NACE qualification for coating inspection, non-destructive testing qualifications, ASME qualification (National Board, Authorized Inspector, Authorized Supervisor), and/or API Qualification (510 – Pressure Vessels Inspector, 570 – Piping Inspector, or 936 – Refractory Inspector);
      • Knowledge of material processing techniques;
      • Bilingual in English/French;
      • The job holder must be able to read, understand, and follow work instructions safely and promptly;
      • Proficient in various software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
      • Recognized skills in managing and coordinating multiple projects in a highly dynamic and professional environment;
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and text composition;
      • Ability to work in both group and autonomous settings;
      • Recognized time management skills and attention to detail;
      • Ability to work under pressure;
      • Extended work hours may be necessary on occasion;
      • Travel to other cities, provinces, or countries may be required on occasion;
      • Ensure compliance with company policies regarding health and safety, Integrity Code, and Professional Code of Conduct.
