Description

1 Part-time position: hours per week, and this position would move to full-time hrs/week) in February/March 2023 or sooner.
Examples of full-day shifts: 8am - 4pm, 8:30am - 4:30pm, 9am - 6pm.


The teachers at Wee Leprechauns Child Care Centre Ltd are responsible for the daily care, instruction and supervision of the children within their classrooms, under the direct supervision of the Supervisor.

The teachers are responsible for the daily planning, implementation, and evaluation of the weekly program, which staff have a time off each week to do so.

The Teachers will ensure they attend to their professional development by seeking and attending courses (online or in-person). Wee Leprechauns Child Care Centre Ltd promotes and supports professional developmental.


The successful applicant will have a valid Immunization Record / TB Test (last 6 months), a valid First Aid and Infant CPR certification are a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check), all required prior to starting employment.

Salary:
$16.00-$18.00 per hour, plus PWE = $ $20.00 per hour.


Qualifications:


An Early Childhood Assistant employed with Wee Leprechauns Childcare Centre Ltd must have a strong love for children and families as well as enjoy finding ways to get the children ready for school.

The person must have appropriate communication skills in english (Speaking, Reading, Writing).
- the ability to design and implement relevant programs and activities,
- a willingness to adhere to the center's stated philosophy,
- and a demonstrated commitment to professional development.

Wee Leprechauns Director's will use both the interview and outside work related references in choosing the most appropriate applicant.


Required Attributes and Skills:


  • An ability to warmly relate easily to the children in a positive and sensitive way.
  • Ability to work closely and in harmony with supervisors and peers. And has a caring and respectful attitude toward all persons.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and dependability.
  • Comfortable working with individual or groups of children aged 18 months 6 yrs old)
  • Demonstrates good judgement, flexibility and adaptability.
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of ethics when dealing with children, parents, ECE students and fellow staff, other professionals and all persons related to the centre.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the CCEYA and ELECT documents, as well as Toronto Public Health Guidelines

Program Responsibilities:

- welcome the family and integrate each child into the group upon arrival.

  • Implement daily activities for various areas within our centre's programming expectations
- in rotation with other staff members, plan and implement weekly circle themes and related activities in which all the children can participate.
- organize and implement field trips in the community, themed days (such as pink shirt day, pajama day, etc)
- plan and implement techniques and activities which stimulate children's curiosity, inventiveness, problem-solving and communication skills.
- organize space, equipment, and materials prior to activities. In-class inventory of supplies
- guide, demonstrate, and encourage children's activities throughout the day.
- assist children in expressing themselves by listening and responding with questions, comments, or clarification.
- continually provides experiences which teach good health practices: physical, mental, dental, and nutritional.
- plan and provides daily activities which facilitate an understanding of other people's cultures and value systems.
- encourage and assist children daily to practice self-help skills.
- praise and encourage each child's efforts daily by displaying work and providing meaningful commentary.
- ensure all areas of the centre are properly supervised.
- daily reports are kept updated and accurate, with photos added throughout the day using the HiMama app
