    The House of Commons Office of the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel is currently looking to staff the Senior Administrative Coordinator position.

    The Office of the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel provides comprehensive legal and legislative services to the Speaker, the Board of Internal Economy, Members of the House and its committees, the Clerk and the House Administration. The Office also drafts legislation and amendments for Members, and may represent Members or the House in proceedings that involve their parliamentary privileges and immunities.

    The Senior Administrative Coordinator is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing the daily tasks and schedules of the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel. Additionally, they are tasked with providing administrative, financial, logistical, technical, and information management support services to the Executive Office.

  • Qualifications

    Education:

  • Diploma or degree in Business Administration/Office Administration OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the work.
  • Experience:

  • Significant experience in providing administrative support to executives/managers/teams and employees including calendar and email management and, meeting minutes;
  • Significant experience in controlling and managing the flow of correspondence, messages, requests and documentation to and from senior management, as well as determining and making recommendations on appropriate administrative action;
  • Experience in drafting and proofreading documents such as administrative communications and correspondence in both official languages while ensuring accuracy and demonstrating a high level of attention to detail;
  • Proficiency in handling tasks efficiently within a high-speed work environment;
  • Prioritizing tasks, managing schedules, and ensuring deadlines are met;
  • Proficiency with the office software, such as MS Outlook, MS TEAMS, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Assets :

  • Completed post-secondary education from a recognized institution;
  • Experience in coordinating logistical and travel arrangements;
  • Experience working in a legal environment;
  • Good working knowledge of the planning cycle of the House, the policies, regulations, directives, procedures and practices related to the Administration of the House.
