Overview


The Food Service Worker performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Food and Nutrition department and is accountable to the Food and Nutrition Manager.


Qualifications

Completion of the Food Service Worker Program or enrolled and Food Handler Certificate is a Must.
Grade 12 High School graduate or equivalent combination of education. One year of related experience in a kitchen and/or servery is essential. Must be available to workdays, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.

Must be able to be exposed to noise, high temperature and moisture while working in the dish room, kitchen, and Serveries, as well as temperature and humidity changes when entering refrigerated/freezer and storage areas.
Participates in meetings as assigned.

Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures and knowledgeable in WHMIS. Good organizational and interpersonal skills are required. Must be team oriented, possess effective communication skills and have a genuine desire to work with the elderly.

Must have an understanding of the Residents' Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards as set out by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

This position will show a willingness to perform routine, repetitive task with frequent interruptions. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Must be able to work every other weekend as per current collective agreement.
