The YMCA of Southwest Nova Scotia is expanding its support of the youth community by offering the Youth Outreach Program (YOP) in Queens County.
The YOP is a community-based program designed to improve the immediate and long-term social, educational/vocational, economic and health outcomes of vulnerable youth 12-25 years of age who are facing multiple challenges with limited supports.
This program is funded by the Department of Community Services.The Youth Outreach Worker (YOW) will provide outreach to youth who may be at risk, vulnerable and marginalized. The YOW will support clients in advocating for their needs, and assist with navigating the social service system. The position will coordinate, design and deliver health promotion, harm reduction, life skills, and education programs. They will provide support services and promote referrals to health care and social services.
Additionally, the YOW will collaborate within an inter-professional team of professionals across the community network that influence the well-being of clients, as well as within the Organizations team structure, in support of goals that align with and achieve the YMCA's strategy, Mission, Vision and Values.
This position is mobile.It is required to have a reliable vehicle, a clean driving abstract and two million liability insurance as the YOW will be transporting clients in their vehicle.
