Fath Industries is looking for a Concrete Superintendent to work in a full-time capacity, in various locations throughout Edmonton. This position will be responsible to coordinate and supervise concrete projects from the conceptual development stage, through to final construction The Superintendent must be able to align with the company's core purpose and core values.     Responsibilities:

  • Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all concrete crew members, subcontractors, and equipment and utilize corrective action to keep the project on time and on budget;
  • Liaise with customers, engineers and project managers in an effective, professional and respectful manner;
  • Provide mentoring and coaching leadership to up to 3-5 foremen and up to 40 crew members;
  • As a leader; work with respective foremen to plan work in an efficient and effective order, coordinate with all key project stakeholders to optimize daily production in a safe and timely manner;
  • Review and comply with construction schedules, ensuring progress reports, milestones and completion dates are met;
  • Propose solutions, and actively research new technology to develop solutions and create efficiencies;
  • Ensure all crew and department's administrative requirements are completed and submitted on time;
  • Liaise with the Human Resource department on a variety of employee related issues, including employee development, recruitment, benefits, training, terminations, and incident investigations;
  • Ensure concrete crew's compliance with daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections;
  • Lead by example on Health & Safety related policies and processes and ensure crews compliance with OH&S practices.
  • Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade 12 or a high school diploma is required;
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in leading concrete crews as a Senior Concrete Foreman or Superintendent, in a construction company; OR a minimum 5 years' experience leading large construction crews will be required;
  • Prior experience and expertise in operating GOMACO equipment is an asset but not required;
  • Proven ability to promote cooperation and commitment within a team environment is required;
  • Thorough knowledge of the safe operation of concrete equipment and municipal road building industry is required;
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of specifications and procedures; proficient in interpreting project plans, for placing and finishing concrete in a variety of municipal, commercial, and rural environments;
  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver's license or above with a clean drivers abstract;
  • Ability to work continuously for prolonged periods of time under pressure; highly adaptive and flexible functioning in a dynamic work environment is highly desirable;
  • High attention to detail, professional communication skills with personnel, coworkers and clients. Ability to follow directions of management and promote organization's goals and objectives are required;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with minimal supervision is required.
  • Additional Information:

  • This is a year around position.
  • Candidates must be open to long working hours in the summertime.
  • Some travel outside of Edmonton may be required.
