Cemetery Worker

Woodland Cemetery, Mausoleum, and Crematorium is looking for a
Cemetery Worker to join our team.

The Cemetery Grounds Worker will report directly to the Cemetery Superintendent and is responsible for upkeep of the grounds and facility maintenance.

This position is based on a 40-hr work week which may include Saturdays and overtime when required.

Cemetery Grounds Worker

Responsibilities include:

General cemetery care, including but not limited to cutting and trimming of grass, tree and shrub care, leveling sunken areas, seeding, leaf collection and disposal.
Ensuring safety of memorials.
Maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities.
Preparation of graves and niches for interments.
Infrastructure maintenance and upgrading.
Snow and ice removal.
Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for this role:

Completion of highschool.
Possess a valid drivers license in good standing.
Heavy equipment training, or certification would be an asset.
Landscaping, and/or cemetery training, or certification would be an asset.
Integrated Pest (IPM) certification would be an asset.
Ontario Landscape License would be an asset.
Chainsaw, small engine or welding certifications would be an asset.
Ability to empathize with grieving families.
Ability to interact positively with general public.
Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
Ability to prioritize duties, meet deadlines, multitask and work with a mínimal amount of supervision.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to lift 50lbs.

Experience
Cemetery Grounds Work: 1 year (preferred)

Landscaping/horticulturist: 1 year (preferred)

Schedule

Mon-Fri 8:00am to 5:00pm
Rotating Saturday schedule 9:00am1:00pm and occasionally Sunday as required.
