Education:

Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in the field of materials science and engineering or physics, related to the duties of the position, or the employerapproved alternative for the SE classification.

Productivity or Recognition:

Recognized achievements in the form of authorship and/or editorship of published or unpublished reports, books, book chapters, proceedings, papers, patents, or other manuscripts resulting from:

a) Research, analysis, development, and advancement in scientific and/or engineering problems; OR

c) Planning, operation, and evaluation of Canadian and foreign programs in research and development.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

xperience in developing interdisciplinary research in materials science and engineering.

xperience in writing research proposals, reports, and scientific publications.

xperience in materials processing, evaluation, and characterization.

xperience in leading collaborative research including multiple stakeholders (universities, industries, governments, or science based non-government organizations, etc.).

Asset Qualifications:

xperience in recycling and reuse of metals.

xperience in magnetic measurements and data analysis.

xperience in powder metallurgy or 3D printing.

xperience in magnetic modeling software.

Information on language requirements

Knowledge:

nowledge of the fundamental principles of materials science, material processing, evaluation, and characterization techniques.

nowledge of the properties of rare earth metals and their alloys, and the development and manufacturing of permanent magnets.

nowledge of the analytical equipment for magnetic material evaluation.

nowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures.
