Position Overview:

The role is based in Calgary, Alberta.

Reporting to the VP Western and dotted line to CFO, Canada, the VP Finance, Western Canada will be responsible to oversee all financial processes for Western Canada, including but not limited to, accounting, forecasting, budgeting, analysis, cash management, tax, AR, AP, and financial reporting.

The VP Finance, Western Canada will lead a team of accountants and financial analysts and will work in close partnership with the Executive Team in order to deliver on the financial objectives of the organization.

As the primary business partner to the operational leaders for Western Canada, this role will ensure that the necessary financial infrastructure and reporting processes are in place to provide clear measurement and understanding of the financial performance of the Western region.

This position will be responsible for developing and implementing effective internal controls and accounting policies and procedures.


Responsabilités:


Primary Responsabilities:


Fiancial Reporting

  • Responsible for the production and integrity of internal and external monthly reports including financial statements and monthly rolling forecast projections for use by the Executive management team.
  • Directs the reporting and analysis of financial and operational data to include cost analysis, ROI, capital budgeting, profitability analysis, and pricing models.
  • Directs the financial aspects of proposing on new business and assists in the development and negotiation of contracts.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains procedures to improve efficiency of financial functions and accuracy of financial reporting
  • Compliance and Internal Controls
  • Ensures compliance with statutory audit requirements and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Ensures the timely completion of relevant tax returns and filings
  • Completes procedures required to support internal controls reviews and the corporate antifraud and ethics and compliance programs

Strategic Planning

  • Develops and manages the budget, the rolling forecast and the longterm financial plan for Western Canada; is responsible for variance analysis and tying the financial performance of the operation to operational KPIs
  • Manages the design, development, and maintenance of financial planning and accounting systems
  • Establishes and oversees implementation of short
- and long-range Finance goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures

  • Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives
- "Provide coaching support and financial literacy education to local teams, empowering them with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed financial decisions regarding the management of their profit and loss (P&L) statements."


Special Projects

  • Serves on planning, policymaking and project committees
  • Manages special projects/project teams as assigned by the VP Western and CFO, Canada

Qualifications:


Knowledge & Skill Requirements:


  • CPA or Masters of Business Administration
  • Eight years of experience in seniorlevel finance or accounting position, with minimum 5 years of leadership experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Demonstrated capability to deliver budgets, forecasts and financial planning under tight timelines
  • Strong accounting foundation with working knowledge of IFRS
  • Experience working with ERPs such as JDE or MS Dynamics
  • General knowledge of federal and provincial financial regulations including tax
  • Highly analytical, has designed and conducted indepth analytical studies that has enabled clarity and insight into root causes of problems, leading to effective recommendations for corrective actions
  • Highly experienced with preparing budgets and forecasts, and supporting strategic planning processes
  • Process oriented and looks for longterm, susta
