- Collaborate with a variety of internal and external partners, including Indigenous community partners, government partners and regional health authorities in support of PHSA's commitment to advancing cultural safety and cultural humility within the context of research and clinical trials.
- Function as the Indigenous cultural safety and cultural humility point of contact for clinical trials planning and design; liaises with internal and external partners; and coordinates information flow related to assigned initiatives to ensure timely and responsive communications.
- Partner with the CTU/CRU managers to ensure the inclusion of Indigenous Cultural Safety and Cultural Humility elements in the development of documents and processes throughout the provincial clinical trials program.
- Deliver organization-wide, initiative specific presentations that demonstrate and highlight PHSA's commitment to Indigenous cultural safety and cultural humility.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to promote dialogue and problem solve access to clinical trials and other issues affecting Indigenous individuals, families, and communities.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to identify barriers for other underrepresented populations in clinical trials & research and create opportunities to improve Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion practices within the program.
- Analyze and compiles data; maintains databases; prepares and submits a variety of reports reflecting milestones, goals, and objectives. Provides updates on activities including key challenges and successes.
- Prepare and submit periodic reports that evaluate the quality of the program and resulting achievements to ensure alignment with the portfolio priorities.
- Contribute to a variety of documents including briefing notes, business cases, issue analyses, impact assessments and risk evaluations by performing duties such as gathering information, analyzing issues, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations, preparing final reports and presentations for use by internal and external clients.
- Participate in and contributes to ongoing dialogue with external partners including Foundations, the Ministry of Health, and First Nation Communities, Métis Chartered Communities and Indigenous Service Agencies on issues related to clinical trials & research.
- Represents the clinical trials program on a variety of committees as the subject matter expert..
- Pursuant to section 41 of the British Columbia Human Rights Code, preference will be given to applicants of Indigenous Ancestry.
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field plus three (3) years of recent related experience working with Indigenous people and communities and understanding their needs including an extensive understanding and knowledge of Indigenous Health issues, protocols, and health needs, including the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of the client and community.
- Demonstrate understanding of Indigenous health care needs in facility planning and service delivery needs including knowledge and understanding of community-based services such as community health centers and Indigenous service providers.
- Knowledge of the cultures, protocols, and traditions of Indigenous peoples to honor established and new relationships as a representative of the health authority.
- Demonstrated community engagement skills including the ability to promote positive dialogue in a multi-partner environment.
- Ability to use computer related tools including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Interact professionally with a variety of staff as a member of a team, other professionals, and the public; ability to maintain and build partnerships through relationship building and networking.

- Work collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
- Have commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act

As a member of the Clinical Trials team, the Lead provides guidance on cultural safety and cultural humility within clinical trials and promotes positive dialogue and meaningful inclusion of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit community priorities. In addition, the Lead will be responsible for engagement of First Nations and Métis communities, leaders, and other representatives to inform the Provincial Clinical Trials Office (PCTO) and regional Clinical Trials/Research Units (CTU/CRU) about improvements that can be made within the clinical trials programs at BC Cancer.

Salary Range: $67,861-$97,550/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
