PWO Canada is a Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier for auto manufacturers globally. We are one of five subsidiaries in the PWO AG Group, manufacturing lightweight metal components for the automotive industry.


PURPOSE OF POSITION


The purpose of the position of Janitor is to keep the interior of the building and exterior company property neat and clean.


NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION


The position is responsible for ensuring the building is clean and neat, contributing to a safer, more pleasing working environment.

The position may be required to work outside of normal working hours in order to clean more thoroughly when there is not work being done by other employees.

Internal contacts consist of any employee who may require an area to be cleaned immediately. No external contacts exist for this position.

The employee is responsible for his/her own work, and does not influence the work of others. Decisions made by this position impact the department in the short term.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
High School Diploma.


Knowledge and Skills:
The position must be able to use a mechanical sweeping machine. The position must be able to work quickly, thoroughly and must be able to respond efficiently to changing priorities.


Communication Skills:
Basic oral and written communication skills for regular business communications.


Nature and Length of Experience:
No previous experience required.


RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Daily Before 8 am:_

  • Unlocks gates
  • Shovels out entrances
  • Checks and collects garbage as necessary
  • Checks plant washrooms for supplies and cleanliness, washes floors (3 men's, 2 women's, 1 shipping).
  • Checks office washrooms for supplies and cleanliness, washes floors.

Daily:_

  • Manually cleans floors using dry mop then auto scrubber.
  • Walks around looking for spills, debris.
  • Checks rear scrap area for scrap spills.
  • Checks 1200 Pit for flooding daily, pumping if required.
  • Gets scrubber ready.
  • Collects all cardboard and compacts it.
  • Checks eye glass cleaning station for paper and fluid.
  • Cleans the building and empties garbage pails as required.
  • Cleans lunch tables after lunch, changes lunch room garbage.

Day Specific Duties:_


  • Wednesdays:_
  • Collects all plastic and prepares it for Thursday 7 am pickup.
  • Checks photocopy paper and water for upstairs offices.
  • Thursdays:_
  • Collects all rags for Friday 7 am pickup.
  • Fridays:_
  • Dispenses clean rags to appropriate areas.
  • Dispenses clean gloves to appropriate areas.
  • Weekly:_
  • Clean up the scrap area.
  • Sweep floors (at least twice a week).

General Duties:_

  • Ensures paper products are stocked as needed such as paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
  • Assists the Maintenance Facilities Coordinator as requested.
  • Performs all duties within the 5S standards.
  • Following and performing the instructions as listed in the Work Area Reference Manual(s) applicable to the department.
  • Compliance to all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for working safely, complying with safety policies and procedures, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) required in the designated areas as per company policy.
  • Responsible for working safely and keeping a safe work area for themselves and fellow employees. Reporting any unsafe working conditions, practices, and workrelated injuries immediately to his/her Supervisor or Manager.
  • Any other jobrelated duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor and Manager.
