Job description
We are a high-end interior design studio developing a custom chair design and are looking for an experienced industrial designer / CAD engineer with luxury furniture experience to translate our concept into professional manufacturing drawings.
This is not basic drafting — we're looking for someone who understands design aesthetics, craftsmanship, and fabrication realities while preserving the original design intent.
Create detailed 3D CAD model from provided renders/sketches
Produce fabrication-ready shop drawings
Advise on materials, joinery, tolerances, and construction methods
Ensure design feasibility for manufacturing
Maintain the luxury design proportions and visual integrity
Collaborate with us to refine details if needed
Ideal Candidate
Proven experience designing or drafting high-end furniture
Strong understanding of woodworking and/or upholstery construction
Background in industrial design, furniture design, or product engineering
Ability to interpret design vision, not just replicate geometry
Strong eye for proportion, detail, and craftsmanship
Software Experience (any combination)
Preferred:
Fusion 360
SolidWorks
Rhino / Grasshopper
AutoCAD (for technical drawings)
Bonus if you have
Experience with luxury or custom furniture brands
Manufacturing collaboration experience
Knowledge of fabrication workflows
Project Goal
To create professional drawings that a furniture manufacturer can confidently build from while preserving the design character and quality.
