Faculty Appointment Types Sessional Non-NRSL Job Summary


The School of Access and Continuing Education at the College of New Caledonia is looking for an instructor to teach Essential Skills and Job Readiness in a program designed to expose multi-barrier students to a variety of workforce and industry materials in order to prepare them for work in one of a variety of trades-related fields.

Essential Skills and Job Readiness components will focus on development of collaboration, communications skills, resume building and interview preparedness within this particular context.


We are looking for someone who can help us not only deliver the program but also help us advance the college's strategic vision, which is (1) learning across a lifetime, (2) student success-focused education and training, (3) organizational strength and agility, and (4) community engagement and partnership.

This position requires an awareness of and professional strength regarding Trauma-Informed Teaching principles.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching employability skills programming
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching students with barriers to securing sustainable employment
relevant diploma or degree

  • Strong empathetic interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills
  • Previous teaching experience or a Provincial Instructor's Diploma will be considered an asset


Hiring criteria shall include professional qualifications, professional experience, teaching experience, college contributions, community awareness and personal attributes so far as they are applicable to the job classification in question.


You will promote a positive work atmosphere and communicate in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.


You will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners and communities.
