Job Summary:


Lead the Stores, Inventory Control and Logistics teams to ensure aircraft parts and tooling are available to the Maintenance team across Porter's North American network.

This will be accomplished by establishing and maintaining a Stores area inside Porter's new hangar facility at the Ottawa International Airport, while maintaining control of inventory in Porter's outstations.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish, train and maintain an efficient team in order to provide 24 hour, 365 day coverage in Stores
  • Support the Stores, Inventory Control & Logistics teams through regular meetings, processing payroll, shift trades, vacation/sick day requests and responding to team member queries in a timely manner
  • Act as a signing authority to ensure all Porter employees and vehicles requiring airside access are able to obtain security clearance
  • Establish and maintain shipping, receiving and quarantine areas as well as areas for oversized items
  • Generate new processes & procedures using Porter's DPD process as required
  • Liaise with Aircraft Material Handlers daily to ensure that all parts & tooling requests are being filled and that unserviceable material is processed promptly
  • Liaise with the Logistics team to monitor the status of AOG shipments and to track incoming/outgoing parts required for maintenance tasks across Porter's network
  • Ensure the constant flow of communication between the Stores, Inventory Control & Logistics teams
  • Ensure min/max levels are maintained across all stations at all times in an effort to reduce AOG orders and increase reliability
  • Complete shelf expiry control reports for all stations to ensure all consumable/expendable stock has a valid shelf life, while maintaining records of previous reports to ensure accuracy
  • Monitor tool calibration due dates for all stations and ensure replacements are available while tools are out for calibration or repair
  • Monitor the status of quarantined items and follow up with the maintenance or purchasing teams regularly to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Conduct routine spot checks and annual inventory cycle counts for all stations in Porter's network in tandem with the Inventory Control team
  • Actively participate in Porter's SMS program and provide corrective actions if necessary
  • Actively manage and update Porter's online SDS database while ensuring compliance
  • Work closely with the Purchasing and Planning teams while filling parts requests for planned work packs and preparing for projects such as modifications, Service Bulletins and heavy checks
  • Develop and maintain an annual budget for the entire Stores department (>$2million)
  • Manage expense lines, monitor spending and insure all Stores invoices are properly coded to the correct cost centers within Porter's invoicing software
  • Actively assess all areas of the department in order to identify operational inefficiencies and continuously work towards improving them in a timely manner

Qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of the Canadian Aviation Regulations pertaining to Stores and aircraft parts
  • Strong understanding of the Canada Labour Code
  • Minimum five years experience in a leadership role in an aviation Stores environment
  • Postsecondary education as asset
  • Well organized, detail oriented and able to work autonomously
  • Proven selfstarter with good time management skills and able to multitask
  • Able to obtain airside security clearance
  • Valid G driver's license or out of province equivalent
  • Knowledge of AMOS a str
