- Draft Court documents related to pleadings, discovery plans, mediation memos, motion materials, affidavits of documents, costs outlines, and settlement documents;
- Draft various correspondence to all levels of Court, opposing counsel and external parties.
- Review and summarize various productions received from clients, opposing counsel and external parties;
- Review examination for discovery transcripts and summarize undertakings.
- Prepare and assemble various briefs and other materials required for case conferences, hearings, arbitrations and trials for all levels of Court;
- Prepare undertakings charts as well as monitor and follow up on undertakings.
- Liaise with clients, opposing counsel and external parties as required;
- Communicate potential issues to the attention of the solicitor in charge.
- Other duties as required ( faxing, scanning, filing).
- Law Clerk Diploma and/or Paralegal License/Diploma;
- In addition to 3-5 years' experience in a litigation law clerk/paralegal role;
- Solid understanding of current legal terminology and working knowledge of the civil procedure Court rules where applicable;
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with litigation support software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and Primafact, with the ability to problem solve;
- Advanced technical skills with knowledge of CD/DVD burning software, copying onto USB's as well as familiarity with transferring documents electronically through FTP transfer sites;
- Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt communication style, as necessary, when communicating with clients and other team members;
- Superior ability to multi-task with flexibility to handle increasingly more complex competing deadlines and demands;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Strong work ethic with the advanced ability to work independently towards contributing to the team.

The Commercial Litigation Law Clerk/Paralegal is a key team member, responsible for assisting the lawyers in their assigned practice group to manage assignments and priorities to ensure deadlines are met and files are continuously and consistently moving forward.
