We are seeking reliable and motivated Rehabilitation Assistants to join our cohesive Rehabilitation Team in the Community of Clearwater.

We have an immediate permanent, full time opening.
Based in Dr.

Helmcken Memorial Hospital the Rehabilitation Assistant takes clinical direction from either a physical therapist or an occupational therapist and may work in the hospital and/or long-term settings.


Within this role, a Rehabilitation Assistant:

  • Is encouraged to work at top of scope.
  • Engages patients with regular therapeutic interventions.
  • Has a huge impact on progression of patient needs and their rehab journey.
  • Is an intrical member of the rehabilitation team.
  • Is relied on to be the eyes and ears of the rehab team.
Dr.

Helmcken Memorial Hospital is a Level 1 Community Hospital with 6 acute care beds located in Clearwater, North of Kamloops.

The hospital offers services including surgical, inpatient and 24 hour emergency. Outpatient hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Forest View Place is a 19 residential bed Long-Term Care facility attached to Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital.


Areas of Practice:


  • Physical Therapy Acute Care_

Areas of work:
post-op surgical care (orthopaedic, trauma), general medical, critical care, inpatient rehab, post neurological events (is. CVA, TBI), vascular and plastic surgery. Carry out the treatment plan and address patients' mobility needs of complex equipment. Ongoing collaboration and closely interconnected with the care teams.

  • Occupational Therapy Acute Care_

Areas of work:

post-op surgical care, general medical, inpatient rehab, critical care, post-neuro events (CVA, TBI), inpatient psychiatry, Therapeutic Support Surfaces program.

Practicing valued activities of daily living (i.e. dressing, toileting, feeding, functional transfers) with patients and cognitive rehabilitation, such as memory games, newspaper therapy. Assisting with splinting.

  • Long-Term Care_
Practice using equipment to help people stay independent. For example wheel chairs, walkers. Conduct exercise and walking programs, and therapeutic group work. You monitor and manage equipment inventory/stock, use and the availability of specialty products for required needs. You provide education to staff with a range of backgrounds in Safe Patient Handling.

Shifts are Mondays to Fridays 08:00 to 16:00 hours. We offer an exceptional employer-paid benefits package plus generous vacation. Relocation Allowance package may be offered with position.

Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Driver's License as required.
