Automha Americas Automation Corp. continues to expand with the addition of
Control System Specialist.

Reporting to the COO, the
Control System Specialist will support PLC installation and startup phases of Automated Systems for the Automha Americas Group.

These processes take place directly on site, located in different areas throughout North America. As such, this role requires extensive travel throughout North America.

Responsibilities Include:


  • Work collaboratively with the rest of the engineering team to help integrate new warehouse automation designs into existing electrical/electronic and control systems to meet customer specifications, contracts and new business development.
  • Responsible for startup and commissioning of machines and developing operating standards for electrical/electronic systems and equipment in conjunction with support from the factory.
  • Support the installation and configuration of Control Systems that comprise Servo Controllers, Drives, Motion Control systems, custom programming of PLC's and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
  • Oversee technicians/electricians and inspect the installation and operation of electrical/electronic systems and equipment on site.
  • Study and modify Electrical schematics/designs and investigate electrical/electronic failures.
  • Participate in equipment tests to ensure components and systems conform to engineering design, relevant safety standards and performance codes (Electrical Safety Standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations) and customer specifications.
  • Aid the Factory Engineering Team to prepare detailed supporting documentation, technical manuals, release notes, User's documentation etc.
  • Provide training of our automated solutions to the endusers to minimize downtime while remaining compliant to established regulatory and customer safety protocols and regulations.
  • Support the Sales team in providing technical support during the commercial sales process as required.
  • Provide PLC support to existing clients as part of the aftermarket support process.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years Software Engineering Background required.
  • Minimum 2 years Material Handling Experience preferred.
  • Experience providing technical training to nontechnical people is essential.
  • Postsecondary education in a related field required (for instance, a computer controls & technology diploma, or software engineering, etc.)
  • Knowledge of PLC programming in Siemens TIA Portal/STEP7 environment and Rockwell RSlogix Family preferred.
  • Familiarity with remote I/O, bus systems, instrumentation and measurement systems, Safety Systems, setting up controls and industrial networks programs for control of electromechanical systems are also an asset for the role.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Project; otherwise, strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices is preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft office skills required.
  • Strong people skills a polite and professional demeanor when working with other companies, as well as consumers and coworkers required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout North America extensively without restrictions (and at times, for prolonged periods), this includes having a suitable drivers' license and clean drivers abstract, and valid passport.
  • Responsive to afterhours support calls when required.

  • Monday to Friday general business hours 9:00am to 5:00pm, with occasional afterhours support
  • This is a fulltime position
