We are currently looking for a

permanent

T&D Supervisor to join our Regional Operations team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, Western Territory you will oversee the Bridgetown, Digby, and Clare Regions.


Accountabilities:


As the T&D Field Supervisor, you will ensure the safe and effective utilization of human resources and material resources for the provision of excellent electric service to customers in your area.

You will ensure Nova Scotia Power's standards for customer service are met or exceeded by utilizing a skilled workforce to complete operating, maintenance, and construction activities in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

As the successful applicant, you may be required to work throughout the province based on the business requirements.

You will be responsible for the safety performance of the business unit by following the safety programs, conducting accident investigations, and ensuring that employees work safely, and the public is protected.

You will establish a mutually supportive working relationship with other field supervisors, regional and business administration support groups, external business contacts and planning workgroups.


The T&D Field Supervisor will maintain good labour relations and employee morale by identifying training and development opportunities; ensure vehicles and tools are properly operated and maintained; maintain a current knowledge of rates, regulations, policies, procedures, practices, standards, and collective agreements.

You will assist in the preparation of budgets and financial projections and will implement cost control measures. You must be available for rotational supervisory standby. You must demonstrate your ongoing personal commitment to the Capabilities Development Process.


You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives.


What skills will make you successful?
You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • Grade XII education or equivalent. A Red Seal PLT Certificate or a certificate in the Electrical trade and/or a Certificate in Engineering Technology and/or Certificate as an Electrical Technician would be preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, communication, organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Adaptable to change and a selfmotivated individual who is committed to optimizing the work management and scheduling processes
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Good working knowledge of computers, knowledge of the work management and scheduling system, and experience in electrical overhead and underground distribution operations would be preferred.
  • Previous supervision of crews or external contractors would be an asset.
  • Experience in planning operations and dispatching would be an asset.
