Job Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join the team as Communications Specialist at Tricon Residential.

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate & Public Affairs, you will contribute to a wide range of initiatives that are intended to inform, inspire, and foster authentic connections with our key stakeholders:
employees, residents, partners, investors and the communities we serve.


As a key member of the Corporate & Public Affairs (C&PA) team, you are responsible for developing and executing communications primarily for external audiences and internally for corporate initiatives and executive team members designed to effectively convey Tricon's purpose, principles and priorities.

You will synthesize complex information into compelling narratives for various platforms and audiences to build and enhance Tricon's reputation with key audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research, write, copyedit, proofread and curate compelling content for internal and external deliverables, including intranet news articles, companywide announcements, FAQs, scripts for events, promotional materials and social media platforms
  • Collaborate with multiple functions to draft impactful business leadership and internal messages that effectively communicate our guiding principles and company culture while aligning with company goals
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and develop compelling narratives for the company intranet, Instagram, and LinkedIn content; align content with company verticals.
  • Ensure that our PR efforts serve both immediate and longterm business goals
  • Pitch new ideas, amplify brand content on social media and remain up to date with trends and opportunities
  • Understand the competitor landscape and stay ahead of any threat to our brand position
  • Conduct daily media scans, providing executive updates and proactively identifying risks and opportunities
  • Forecast news cycles and identify areas of trending public interest
  • Build connections with key media organizations and journalists through a mix of traditional, digital, and social channels
  • Help respond to media inquiries by researching, preparing briefing materials and providing media relations support
  • Liaise with stakeholders to gather insights and relevant information, enabling the creation of wellcrafted writeups for various deliverables such as media outreach and award submissions that resonate with the target audience and align with strategic goals
  • Update company information, website bios and market fact sheets as needed
  • Act as backup to the VP of Corporate and Public Affairs on timesensitive and emergency communications
  • Support the coordination and execution of Company events, including planning, scheduling, content and asset development and developing the run of show
  • Evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, communication tools and services on an ongoing basis and make insightful recommendations to the C&PA team
  • Track Tricon's volunteering and philanthropic initiatives in the US and Canada
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across communication channels and materials
  • Copyedit, proofread and revise communications for internal stakeholders as needed
  • Assist with external GR and PR agency management, including scheduling, sharing and disseminating information in a timely fashion and project management
  • Foster a positive and engaging work culture within the C&PA team, as well as across the organization. Lead by example, promoting teamwork, collaboration and open communication
  • Provide administrative support to the C&PA team on a variety of projects, including helping to prepare wrapup reports, event scheduling, contract preparation, invoice processing and tracking payments and updating budget expenditures
  • Represent Tricon with partners, at industry events, with external media, etc.

Qualifications (About You):
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field is preferred, as well as 2-3 years of experience in a similar role
