Primary Responsibilities:


  • Oversee all usage aspects of association member databases and registration processes
  • Train staff, volunteers, and other users on association member databases
  • Create and maintain training and reference materials and manuals
  • Manage data collection and maintain data integrity on an ongoing basis
  • Develop a plan and processes to pilot and transition to online registration within the association member database
  • Represent SOBC on national database and IT committees
  • Provide a range of information technology and business support services required for the effective and efficient ongoing day to day operations of the Society
  • Administer and help our team achieve excellence in use of Microsoft hardware, cloud, and programs including Dynamics
  • Setup and onboard new employees for IT requirements
  • Ensure the organization has cybersecurity defences and plans, and that employees and volunteers are trained in cybersecurity risks
  • Provide for the ongoing training and skill development of employees in IT and database related areas
  • Support the installation and implementation of new systems and related technologies including configuration and user adoption
  • Working with key stakeholders to ensure proper utilization of systems
  • Contact third parties as needed to resolve issues
  • Conduct audits of IT systems, usage, and needs to guide future decisions
  • Maintain inventory of all hardware, software and required licensing
  • Help users minimize downtime and increase productivity
  • Log and monitor support tickets and escalate issues when necessary

Core Competencies:


  • Have an interest in technology and databases and a willingness to learn
  • Knowledge and understanding of various IT concepts and technologies
  • Troubleshooting and problemsolving skills
  • Familiarity with PC and Networks
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and be able to work under mínimal supervision. Must be able to manage multiple projects at any given point, work well under high pressure and meet deadlines in a punctual manner
  • Ability to consistently offer professional and engaging customer service.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings and travel on occasion
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience in working on membership databases
  • Intermediate to advanced skills using a variety of computerized software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access)
  • Believe strongly in the Special Olympics mission, values, and vision
  • Have a minimum of two to three years experience in this area
  • Have relevant Degree in IT or related field
  • Be able to work with multidisciplinary teams and people of varying knowledge of IT systems and software
  • Have the ability to manage priorities and balance deadlinedriven workload with complete accuracy. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Undergo a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sectors Check


The position will primarily be based in the Special Olympics BC office located in Burnaby, BC during the probationary period, with the potential to work remotely two days a week after that.

$45,000.00-$65,000.00 per year

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
