    Job Title: Director of Communications and Marketing

    Salary: $120,000

    Overview:

    The BC Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) is an independent, not-for-profit corporation that invests in early-stage innovation to fast-track the commercialization of British Columbia's most impactful clean energy solutions. Together with our climate-first community of innovators, industry leaders, academia, government, and Indigenous partners, we advance future pathways to net-zero – leveraging B.C.'s clean energy advantages to attract investment, create good jobs and build sustainable economic prosperity for decades to come.

    Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Communications and Marketing at CICE is a multifaceted leadership role responsible for defining and implementing comprehensive marketing and communications initiatives. This pivotal position requires a strategic thinker and doer. The successful candidate will play a vital role in advancing our organization's mission, crafting stories about our efforts and those of our changemakers, driving community engagement, and enhancing our overall impact.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement external engagement strategy aimed at enhancing the organization's reputation, visibility, and impact.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align marketing and communications efforts with programmatic goals and community needs.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization's overall strategic plan.
    • Work closely with the CEO and executive team to develop strategies for member engagement, partnerships, and fundraising.
    • Lead the development and execution of engaging and impactful content strategies, including the creation of digital and print materials, social media campaigns, marketing collateral, and partnership materials.
    • Manage media relations efforts to cultivate relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers, securing coverage and awareness of CICE and our portfolio companies, and ensuring our message is clearly delivered, both proactively and reactively.
    • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.
    • Foster positive relationships with stakeholders, community leaders, and partner organizations to amplify our impact and reach.
    • Plan and execute a strategic events plan to showcase our work, engage stakeholders, and advance our mission.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to develop and manage the external affairs budget.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communications initiatives, providing regular reports on return on investment and adjusting strategies as needed.
    • Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for team members in the marketing and communications department, as well as oversight and selection of external consultants.

    Qualifications:

    • Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, Journalism, or a related field.
    • Experience in marketing or communications leadership roles with 10 + years experience.
    • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
    • Organized with strong project management skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience in digital marketing platforms and tools including social media management.
    • Proven experience in planning and executing successful events.
    • Proven experience with government relations, media relations, and advocacy strategies.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • Ability to think strategically, analyze data, and make informed decisions.
    • Passion for the organization's mission and commitment to making a positive impact.
