The Position
Full-time Sales Agronomist. One position at our Morden, MB Ag location and one position at our Rosetown, MB Ag location.
Core Function

Reporting to the Ag Manager, the Sales Agronomist is responsible for providing reliable agronomic advice to clients; developing and implementing farm plans; developing new contacts and maintaining existing relationships with growers, suppliers, and other stakeholders; selling ag inputs to growers; providing scouting, agronomic troubleshooting and fertility and crop protection recommendations.

This sales-driven role encompasses all traditional agronomic responsibilities with an intentional desire to grow market share.

The Sales Agronomist will live the Co-op Brand and strive to achieve and maintain positive and healthy relationships with co-workers and customers.

Responsibilities & Duties


Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Living the Brand
a. To consistently represent the Co-op Brand; to know, understand and live Winkler Co-op's vision, mission, and values.
b.

To be a Co-op ambassador by understanding the Cooperative Retailing System and have a proficient understanding of the cooperative's lifetime membership benefits.

c. Consistently deliver exceptional service to all stakeholders.
Agronomy
a. Develop and administer a farm contact program with present and prospective customers, promoting the services and product lines available.
b. Provide information and advice on seed, weeds, disease, and insect control to growers.
c. Provide field scouting as requested and report findings to producer.
d. Analyze soil sample reports and provide recommendations to growers.
f. Manage all supplier programming to the benefit of growers and Co-op.
g. Assist in all areas of the operation, including blending fertilizer and manually loading product.

Purchasing, Sales, Marketing
a. Meet pre-established sales and margin budgets.
b.

Be responsible for pricing, price checks, sales and inventory management of crop protection products by working with the Agro Manager and FCL Crop Supplies Sales Coordinator.

c. Participate in and support the Co-op Retailing System Programs.
d. As directed, post social media content or provide suggestions to marketing for social media posts.
e.

Coordinate information meeting and tours for growers, utilizing supplier support, to enhance Co-op Agro awareness, credibility and involvement with key growers.

f. Promote finance programs, FCC and other Co-op approved programs.
Administration
a. Be responsible for safe handling, receiving and storage of crop protection products.
b. Maintain the Chemical Warehouse to CPI standards, including the audit process.
c. Ensure claims are written and submitted as per department procedure.
d. Be responsible for entering weekly records in the CRM program.
Personal Development
a. Attend training seminars.
b. Attend supplier and research information day/tours where possible.
c. Pursue the CCA designation (if applicable).
d. Pursue P.Ag designation.


Qualifications:

a. Degree or diploma in agriculture; preference given to agronomy or agri-business.
b. Valid class 5 license with a good driving record.
d. Solid understanding of agribusiness, sales and agronomy.
