As GeoScan's
British Columbia Land Surveyor (BCLS) Manager,
you will be supported and encouraged to grow with every opportunity.

We're looking for someone with the BCLS designation/commission** who will manage the field crews and supervise field and office survey work for various industries.

GeoScan provides services for the entire lifecycle of the construction project, and you'll benefit from this full-scope approach by cross-training, working with spatial data, 3D environments, and getting experience beyond the traditional land surveying and boundary projects.

**As our
British Columbia Land Surveyor (BCLS) Manager, your day-to-day responsibilities include**: - Managing the project's scope, budget, and schedule as well as any additional client or project objectives while working in a team environment.

  • Leading survey projects and crews.
  • Be part of the leadership team.
  • Overseeing the preparation of accurate field data and CAD technical drawings and overseeing information flow from field to final deliverables.
  • Giving mentorship, direction, and necessary training to help the team advance professionally.
  • Preparing survey plans that meet municipal standards as part of development processes.
  • Prepare legal survey plans to meet the standards of the LTSA, ABCLS survey rules, and Surveyor Generals branch.
  • Providing advice to clients on property and legal survey matters.
  • Other tasks and duties as required.

On your resume, we will be looking for the following:

  • BCLS designation/commission is a MUST.
  • A minimum of 5 years of survey experience in British Columbia. Includes time prior to obtaining BCLS designation.
  • Relevant management and supervisory experience.
  • Confident understanding of various types of plans including legal survey plans and engineering design.
  • Experience working on a wide variety of survey projects such as construction, deformation monitoring, subdivisions and point cloud data capture.
  • Completion of a recognized diploma or degree program related to surveying and geomatics or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experienced with survey equipment including Robotic Total Stations, LiDAR and RTK GNSS.
  • Willing and able to work outside in the field in all weather conditions.
  • Willing to travel throughout the Lower Mainland, the Interior, and Vancouver Island as required for work assignments.
  • Strong computer skills; expertise in Autodesk C3D considered an asset.
