Reporting directly to the Manager, District Theatre, the successful applicant will work with existing Technical Coordinators to oversee and organize all of the technical operations and maintenance of the Bell Performing Arts Centre, a 1052 seat proscenium style road house theatre owned and operated by School District #36 (Surrey).


The Technical Coordinator will ensure the efficient and safe operation of the lighting, audio, video, staging and rigging systems of the performing arts centre.

During events this position will function as a working department head while overseeing all technical activity in the venue. Duties on non-event days will include contacting clients, planning and maintenance.

As these activities and responsibilities occur during the various rentals of the venue, the successful applicant will be required to work very flexible and dynamic hours.


Applicants should have completed Grade 12 and a post-secondary diploma in Technical Theatre or an equivalent combination of training and professional experience.


Applicants should also have at least 3 years of experience working at a live performing arts venue in a technical theatre position and a general proficiency in operating theatrical lighting, audio, and counterweight rigging systems.

All successful applicants are required to join CUPE Union Local 728.

As per the CUPE collective agreement the wage for this position is $35.18 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package and pension plan.
