QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of the CCEYA, Health and Safety Policies and Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines.

  • Safe Food Handling Course.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience
  • Valid Criminal Reference Check with vulnerable sector search
  • Updated immunization record and a twostep TB test completed
  • Valid Standard CPR Level C
  • Strong English language skills in both oral and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills when relating to the children, parents, staff and the public.
  • Reliable, dependable and trustworthy.

SKILLS
Ability to communicate with children at their level so that they can comprehend easily.

  • Using appropriate body language and tone, interact positively with children at their level and maintain eye contact.
  • Ensure that children of all races, religions and cultures are treated with equality and respect.
  • Must be able to work within a collaborative team environment by participating in a cooperative and enthusiastic manner.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings and small group discussion during and after working hours when necessary.
  • Identifies areas that require team input and offers assistance to peers.
  • Share ideas and criticisms with other in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to perform in a team environment, empathize, compromise and be flexible.
  • Discuss issues directly with staff involved when dealing with a problem or concern.
  • Inform the Director of any incidents, accidents, or pertinent information regarding other staff and children, and any damaged equipment at the Centre.
  • Always have a positive attitude and strive to create a happy atmosphere for the children and peers.
  • Develop and maintain a positive rapport with parents and/or guardians
  • Greet all parents as they are coming in and out of the center.
  • Relay positive incidents to parents and discuss concerns as objectively as possible.
  • Respond to parent requests with flexibility.
  • Respect confidentiality.

DUTIES

  • 1) Classroom Duties_
  • Providing feedback and observations relating to the curriculum established by the ECE leader
  • Facilitating daily indoor and outdoor activities to enhance language, motor skills, independence and problemsolving through music, science, art, dramatic play, etc.
  • Establishing positive interactions and rapport while guiding the children in all areas of development in accordance with the program philosophy
  • Assisting to ensure overall health and safety of the children enrolled in the program
  • Adapting and maintaining an environment which appreciates and respects the diverse individual and group needs of the children and their families
  • Supporting and communicating with parents, colleagues and Supervisor
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, wipe surfaces when needed
  • Clean and sanitize classroom tables, chairs, high chairs when needed
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings
  • Vacuum and mop the Centre floors as needed.
  • 2) Food Serving_
  • Portioning and distributing lunch at designated lunch time to classrooms as per Canadian food portions guide
  • Recording temperature of the food before serving to classrooms.
  • Providing nutritious snacks for the children/staff of the center.
  • Completing the weekly grocery shopping for the center.
  • Record temperature of the food before serving and follow the handling and serving instructions provided by the catering company in order to preserve the maximum quality of product served.
  • 3) Kitchen Duties_
  • Rinse all dishes and containers in order to prevent bacteria growth prior to the containers being picked up by the catering company.
  • Handle all equipment and containers, in a proper manner to prevent damage
  • Clean, sanitize and dry all dishes from meals and snacks.
  • Take out kitchen garbage at the end of the day or as needed.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floor as needed (complete all the daily cleaning)
  • 4) Health & Safety_
  • Make sure that there is the correct cleaning supplies available and used in accordance with the Ministry and Public Health guidelines.
  • Follow appropriate dish washing and sanitizing procedures.
  • Follow safe food handling procedures (i.e., cooking temperatures and refrigeration).
Meet the needs of children with allergies & Dietary Restrictions.

  • Wearing appropriate kitchen clothing (i.e., kitchen shoes, hair net, gloves, etc.).
  • Practice frequent hand washing.

Job Types:
THIS WOULD BE A PERMANENT JOB POSITION. WITH A 3 MONTH PROBATION PERIOD AT FIRST.


Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract


Salary:
$17.00-$20.00 per hour
