As the inaugural Director, Funding, you'll be instrumental in leading and supporting activities to help ensure the continued sustainability of SFPP at a time when public safety programs throughout the province are under considerable review.

What You'll Do

Plan Fundin Like a Maestro:You'll oversee all things actuarial, from extrapolations to funding valuations, and from demographic and economic assumptions to recommendations on contribution rates and cost of living adjustments.

Be a Pension Policy Pioneer: You will do research, consult with stakeholders, and work with others on development of plan design strategies and policies to help shape the future of SFPP. You'll be the guardian of pension regulations and ensure they are followed with the precision of a fine-tuned financial instrument.

Dive into data: You will identify and prioritize organizational data needs to support pension policy initiatives and develop dashboards and other reporting to convey meaningful insights into the Plan.

Focus On Strategic Funding Risk Management: You'll support robust risk management related to the Plan's funding, starting with identifying and quantifying risks, proposing risk mitigation and risk response strategies, and monitoring the progress of such strategies to protect the Plan.

Asset Liability Management Magician: Supporting the CIO, you'll juggle assets and liabilities with the grace of a circus performer, ensuring a seamless and balanced act. You'll be integral to the implementation of asset liability management strategies that leave people wondering, "How did they do that?".

Collaborate and innovate: You will work alongside like-minded professionals to achieve the organization's strategic objectives and play a leadership role in the continued sustainability of the Plan.

Educate the Masses:You will enhance the knowledge of Corporation staff and board members too. By being readily available to answer questions and provide easy-to-understand actuarial and funding concepts, you will provide learning opportunities on a variety of issues.


Who We're Looking For

  • Someone with a relevant university degree such as actuarial science, mathematics, business, economics.
  • An individual with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience working in a defined benefit pension plan environment involving areas of funding, accounting, asset liability studies, policy, and administration of defined benefit pension plans. Prior experience with public sector or multiemployer pension plans would be an asset.
