    Location: Fredericton, NB

    Position Summary:

    The Massage Therapist provides massage therapy services to individuals who may have complex mental health and medical conditions, to enable clients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes. You will perform client assessments, develop a therapy plan, and implement outcome- oriented services. Additionally, the MT is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the services, preparing and maintaining records, demonstrating safe and effective resource utilization and quality management, and contributing to the development, review and promotion of massage therapy services.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    · Assess clients by utilizing an evidence-based approach, reviewing records, gathering information relevant to the situation, interviewing the client, and determine the suitability of services to ensure massage therapy goals important to the client are addressed.

    · Plan outcome-oriented massage therapy services by collaborating with the client, caregivers/family and other health care providers.

    · Establish and prioritize expected outcomes; discuss service implementation options; and determine sources and duration of service to meet identified short and long-term client goals.

    · Implement massage therapy services utilizing diverse intervention approaches .

    · Use knowledge, skills and expertise in the area of professional practice to independently manage a complex caseload.

    · Participate in multidisciplinary team case management coordination as required.

    · Provide information and guidance to other caregivers, health service providers, staff and other community agencies as required.

    Skills Required include:

    · Knowledge of the Mental Health Act as it applies to the rights and obligations of clients and staff.

    · Ability to identify emotional, social, or environmental barriers and intervene to eliminate stigma.

    · Ability to effectively manage conflict situations and aggressive behaviour and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioural management techniques.

    · Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

    · Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with clients, families, team members, other groups and community agency personnel.

    · Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.

    · Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.

    · Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in a complex health care environment.

    · Ability to recognize when referral to another health care professional is required.

    · Basic knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to designated program/area.

    · Basic understanding of trauma-informed care.

    · Basic computer literacy, knowledge of clinical standardized tests and measures.

    · Skill in the use of equipment, and the techniques appropriate to massage therapy treatment.

    Qualifications:

    • Be registered with the College of Massage Therapists.
    • Be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Be able to facilitate our clients' needs by exceeding their expectations.
    • Relevant experience is a definite an asset.
