    This is analytical work at the entry level in support of the organization's IT systems. An incumbent of this class will perform a number of activities supporting the sustainment, deployment, and configuration of applications such as compiling and documenting application metrics; developing test cases and test data, and developing training modules and delivering of the same. A Business Analyst will provide support in the identification of business requirements and the design of solutions working with city departments across a number of projects in IT's portfolio , in addition to assisting in the preparation of business cases related to long term strategies and the acquisition of technologies. Other responsibilities include preparing and maintaining a variety of reports and records related to the work and keeping abreast of recent developments in computer techniques and procedures. Performs related work as required.

    Qualifications include completion of a university degree at the Bachelor's level in computer science or a related discipline and some related systems analysis experience, or, an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of information technology components, process and developments including wide area networks, server and workstation operating systems, hardware platforms and configuration options along with the applicable divisional policies and practices. An incumbent will have some knowledge of the functions of departments served and their requirements as applied to information technology (e.g. Labour Relations and Disability Management); the ability to perform problem definition and analysis related to business processes and systems planning; to analyze and evaluate various data and information, develop logical solutions for assigned problems and assess the implications of proposed changes (such as SaaS, COTS, ServiceNow, Microsoft 365). A Business Analyst 1 will have the ability to participate in the work of a project team; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and have to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

    This is a Temporary Full Time position until December 31, 2024.
