Position Title:
Youth Support Worker - Cultural Connections

Hours: 35 hours per week


Hourly wage:

Working as a part of the Youth and Community Leadership (YCL) Team and reporting to the YCL Manager, the Youth Support Worker - Cultural Connections (YSW-CC) supports Indigenous young people through assisting Indigenous youth/young adults in developing cultural wellness plans to connect and reconnect them with their culture, family, home territories, communities, and knowledge keepers in ways that feel meaningful to them.

This role will also help youth to foster a sense of belonging, identity, wellness, and good self-esteem through cultural connections, while supporting Indigenous youth in effectively accessing community and cultural resources.


Our team includes people of all Indigenous identities; some who are close to their communities and others who are on a path to learn more about their heritage.

In recognition of the importance of a lived understanding of Indigenous communities, history, values and culture, preference is given to Indigenous applicants.

The Victoria Native Friendship Centre is a non-profit Indigenous-led organization located on Southern Vancouver Island, BC. Our mandate is to encourage and promote the well-being of urban Indigenous people by strengthening individuals, families, and community.


Salary:
$28.00-$30.00 per hour
