Duties:

The successful incumbent will be responsible for the planning and provision of an effective, safe, clean, secure, and comfortable physical environment for the College employees, students, and visitors on Campus.

Performs and oversees others in all phases of general, aesthetic, and preventative maintenance within specific guidelines.

Responsible for assisting the Associate Director (AD), Engineering and Maintenance on tasks and projects related to the systemic inspection, detection, and correction of incipient failures of equipment or facilities either before they occur or before they develop into major defects.

This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance tasks as well as determining the need for equipment and system maintenance, diagnosing causes of wear and tear, and recommending preventative maintenance solutions.

This position is expected to interact with customers and other employees in a professional manner that enhances work effectiveness for the facilities department.

The incumbent is the lead hand on campus in making O&M decisions on behalf of the College and Associate Director on a day to-day basis and escalates issues to the AD as required.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

A minimum of a 2-year community College graduate in Facility Management, electrical, mechanical, or architectural field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will may also be considered.

A minimum of 5 years of practical work experience in facilities maintenance, building equipment and skilled trades.

Other Required Qualifications:

Ability to provide technological support
Technical knowledge in numerous trades, facility management, and building equipment maintenance including grounds maintenance, custodial services, building operations and maintenance, general carpentry, electrical, lighting systems and fire alarm systems, plumbing and mechanical systems, heating systems and boilers, elevating devices, pest control, HVAC, and refrigeration, building controls and automation, roofing, flooring, door hardware and locksmithing, glazing, etc
Ability to provide support and training for online work order system for new employees and contractors
Ability to provides liaison with public agencies concerned with facilities and compliance with standards.

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:

Lifting office furniture, supplies, equipment (over 20 kg. or 44 lbs). The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.
