    Job Information

    The Department of Executive and Indigenous Affairs in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Family Violence Coordinator.

    In this crucial role, you will oversee the implementation and evaluation of the Government of the Northwest Territories' family violence strategy, ensuring it is person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally safe.

    Reporting to the Director of the Gender Equity Division, you will collaborate with various departments, Indigenous governments, and stakeholders to develop early intervention programs, raise public awareness, and provide strategic planning and policy advice.

    Your efforts will help shape and improve programs and services aimed at preventing family violence across the NWT, in alignment with territorial legislation and best practices.

    To succeed as a Family Violence Coordinator, you must possess specialized knowledge of public health and community development models, as well as an understanding of the historical issues related to oppression and systemic inequities.

    You should be well-versed in the social, psychological, emotional, and cultural aspects of family violence and familiar with national standards and best practices.

    Critical thinking, strategic planning, and crisis management skills are essential, along with the ability to synthesize complex information for diverse audiences.

    Strong communication abilities, both oral and written, and proficiency in MS Office are required.

    Additionally, you should be capable of working independently, forming effective partnerships, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, all while upholding principles of diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness.

    Typically, in order to succeed in the role of Family Violence Coordinator, you will hold a bachelor's degree in a public health or social sciences discipline, or an equivalent degree, along with five (5) years of related experience and advancing responsibilities in a relevant field related to policy and program development.
